Part of Highlands Romance Weekend
Part of Highlands Romance Weekend
(Highlands, N.C.) Old Edwards Inn and Spa in Highlands, NC, is planning two Chris Ringland Wine Dinners as part of Highlands Romance Weekend, January 28 – 30.
Private Winemaker-Hosted Dinner in The Cellar for 11 Guests: Friday, January 28 join the Australian wine maker in the private wine cellar at Old Edwards for a four-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Johannes Klapdohr. Old Edwards sommelier Curt Christiansen will pair each course with wines. And guests will enjoy a special tasting of Chris Ringland’s personal Shiraz during the course of the evening.
Wine Dinner at The Farm with Live Music and the Winemaker
On Saturday evening The Farm at Old Edwards will set the perfect backdrop for a fun and festive wine dinner. Chris Ringland will share his passion for wine making as he speaks about each wine that is perfectly paired with the meal. Enjoy live music and friendly camaraderie as you take a mental trip to “The Outback.”
Ringland is highly regarded for his own label Chris Ringland Shiraz (Formally known as Three Rivers Shiraz) and he now makes the Marquis-Philips wines. Ringland began making wine at the age of twelve and its been his passion ever since. In 1989 the native Australian found his own winery called Three Rivers.
From a vineyard planted in 1910 he made only 60 cases of Shiraz a year. After Ringland’s 1996 and 1998 vintage received 100 points from Robert Parker the wine has rocketed in price, and the winery became known as the Screaming Eagle of Australia. The wine has received four 100’s and two 99’s in nine vintages.
